David E. Cassidy is Of Counsel to Lahoud Law Group, P.C., where he advises employers, businesses, executives, professionals, and individuals on complex labor, employment, and business matters.

As a highly experienced Employment Law Attorney, Mr. Cassidy brings to the Firm a sophisticated practice encompassing employment litigation, workplace counseling, internal investigations, regulatory compliance, executive and employee relations, and strategic business advice.

Throughout his career, Mr. Cassidy has represented clients in matters arising across virtually every stage of the employment relationship—from recruitment, hiring, compensation, workplace policies, and employee relations through discipline, leave administration, accommodation issues, reductions in force, termination, post-employment restrictions, and litigation. His practice reflects a practical understanding of the legal, operational, financial, and reputational considerations that often converge in significant workplace disputes.

Mr. Cassidy regularly counsels employers on matters arising under federal, state, and local employment laws, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, federal and state wage-and-hour laws, the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination, the New Jersey Conscientious Employee Protection Act, the New York State Human Rights Law, and related statutes governing workplace rights and employer obligations.

His litigation experience includes the representation of clients in disputes involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblower allegations, disability accommodation, wrongful termination, wage-and-hour claims, employment contracts, commissions and bonuses, executive compensation, severance obligations, restrictive covenants, confidentiality agreements, trade secrets, defamation, workplace privacy, and related business torts.

Mr. Cassidy has handled employment matters in federal and state courts, before administrative agencies, and through arbitration and other alternative dispute resolution proceedings. He approaches litigation with a focus on identifying the issues that meaningfully affect the client’s legal and business position, developing an efficient record, managing risk, and pursuing a resolution consistent with the client’s broader objectives.

A significant component of Mr. Cassidy’s background is his extensive experience in traditional labor law. For approximately a decade of his practice, he concentrated substantially on union-related matters, including collective bargaining, labor negotiations, grievance proceedings, labor arbitration, union-management relations, and proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board.

That experience allows Mr. Cassidy to advise employers not only on discrete labor disputes, but also on the broader strategic considerations associated with organized workforces. He assists clients in navigating collective bargaining obligations, interpreting and administering collective bargaining agreements, addressing grievances, preparing for arbitration, managing discipline in unionized environments, and responding to issues arising under the National Labor Relations Act.

Mr. Cassidy’s experience in both traditional labor law and employment litigation provides clients with a particularly broad perspective. He is able to evaluate workforce issues not simply as isolated legal questions, but as matters that may implicate contractual obligations, employee relations, regulatory compliance, litigation exposure, management strategy, and long-term operational concerns.

In addition to contentious matters, Mr. Cassidy maintains a substantial counseling practice. He works closely with business owners, corporate leadership, human-resources professionals, managers, and in-house personnel to address workplace issues before they develop into litigation.

His counseling experience includes advising clients regarding employee discipline, performance management, hiring and termination decisions, workplace accommodations, protected leave, wage-and-hour compliance, employee classification, workplace investigations, reductions in force, severance arrangements, restrictive covenants, confidentiality obligations, employment agreements, executive agreements, compensation structures, workplace policies, and employee handbooks.

Mr. Cassidy also assists employers in evaluating difficult personnel decisions involving senior employees, executives, long-term employees, protected-status employees, whistleblower allegations, requests for accommodation, medical leave, complaints of harassment or discrimination, and other circumstances carrying heightened legal risk.

In workplace investigations, Mr. Cassidy advises clients regarding allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, misconduct, conflicts among employees, management concerns, and other sensitive internal matters. His approach emphasizes factual development, procedural fairness, appropriate documentation, and consideration of the legal and operational consequences that may follow the investigation.

Mr. Cassidy also counsels employers concerning reductions in force, workforce restructuring, and organizational changes. His experience includes advising on WARN Act considerations, employee selection issues, severance strategies, releases of claims, communications with affected employees, and the litigation risks that can accompany substantial workforce decisions.

A distinguishing feature of Mr. Cassidy’s practice is his experience representing clients on both sides of the employment relationship. Over the course of his career, he has advised and represented employers as well as executives, professionals, and individual employees.

That breadth of experience provides Mr. Cassidy with valuable insight into how employment disputes are evaluated from competing perspectives. He understands how employees and their counsel may frame claims, how employers assess litigation and operational risk, and how each side may approach settlement, discovery, negotiation, and trial strategy.

For employer clients, this perspective can be particularly valuable in identifying potential vulnerabilities early, anticipating claims before they are asserted, evaluating the credibility and significance of workplace complaints, and developing strategies designed to reduce unnecessary exposure.

For executives and professionals, Mr. Cassidy brings a detailed understanding of employment agreements, compensation arrangements, separation negotiations, restrictive covenants, confidentiality obligations, fiduciary considerations, and the practical consequences of workplace disputes at senior levels of an organization.

Mr. Cassidy also advises clients regarding restrictive covenants and post-employment obligations. His experience includes matters involving noncompetition agreements, nonsolicitation provisions, confidentiality agreements, protection of proprietary information, trade secrets, and disputes arising when executives, employees, or business relationships transition from one organization to another.

In such matters, Mr. Cassidy evaluates both enforceability and practical business considerations, including the nature of the information at issue, the employee’s role, competitive concerns, customer relationships, contractual language, and the appropriate scope of injunctive or other relief.

Beyond labor and employment law, Mr. Cassidy maintains significant experience advising businesses on broader commercial and operational matters. He has served as outside counsel to businesses requiring ongoing legal support without maintaining a full-time internal legal department.

In that capacity, he assists clients with contracts, commercial relationships, employment matters, risk management, compliance concerns, dispute avoidance, and day-to-day legal issues affecting business operations. His role frequently involves working directly with owners and senior management to identify legal risk, evaluate practical alternatives, and provide advice that takes into account both legal obligations and commercial realities.

Mr. Cassidy’s business practice complements Lahoud Law Group’s broader representation of companies, closely held businesses, entrepreneurs, executives, and organizations facing complex legal and regulatory issues. His experience allows him to advise clients at the intersection of employment law, corporate operations, litigation risk, and business strategy.

Mr. Cassidy has also represented municipalities and other public-sector clients in labor and employment matters. His public-sector experience includes advising governmental entities on collective bargaining, employee relations, workplace policies, discipline, and related employment matters.

The public-sector component of his practice gives him experience with the distinct legal, procedural, and institutional considerations that arise when employment law intersects with governmental operations, collective bargaining obligations, public employment requirements, and municipal decision-making.

Before joining Lahoud Law Group as Of Counsel, Mr. Cassidy founded Cassidy Law Group, where his practice focused on labor, employment, and business law. Through that practice, he represented employers, businesses, executives, professionals, and individual clients in litigation, labor matters, workplace counseling, and commercial disputes.

Mr. Cassidy previously practiced with Vlasac & Cassidy, LLC and Vlasac & Shmaruk, where he developed extensive experience in employment litigation, traditional labor matters, business disputes, and workplace counseling.

His professional background has consistently combined advocacy with counseling. Whether representing a client in litigation, negotiating a collective bargaining agreement, addressing a sensitive personnel matter, conducting an investigation, or advising a business owner on an operational concern, Mr. Cassidy’s practice is centered on understanding the client’s objectives and developing a strategy that accounts for both the legal issues and the practical consequences of the available options.

At Lahoud Law Group, Mr. Cassidy significantly expands the Firm’s labor and employment capabilities. His arrival provides clients with experienced counsel in employment litigation, traditional labor law, collective bargaining, workplace investigations, management-side counseling, executive employment matters, restrictive covenants, wage-and-hour compliance, workforce restructuring, and outside general counsel services.

His practice also complements the Firm’s representation of businesses with complex workforce needs, including companies employing foreign nationals or operating across multiple jurisdictions. Employment, corporate, and immigration issues frequently intersect in matters involving executives, professionals, transfers, corporate restructuring, workforce planning, and regulatory compliance. Mr. Cassidy’s experience enhances the Firm’s ability to address those matters through an integrated legal approach.
