IMMIGRATION COMPLIANCE REMINDER: Employers Must Prepare to Implement New Form I-9

NMM’s Immigration Blog recently reported that the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) has again changed the Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification.  The revised Form I-9, which employers are mandated to use, takes effect on September 18, 2017.  Do not wait until the last minute.
While implementing a constantly changing employment eligibility immigration verification process, employers must also remain compliant with existing Form I-9 storage and retention policies for any previously completed employment verification forms.  This is not an easy task, particularly given the increased employer immigration compliance, random audits, and investigations. Employers must be prepared, proactive, and most importantly, represented by outside immigration counsel.
