Breaking Immigration Update: Supreme Court Declines to Expedite DACA Rescission Litigation & USCIS is Still Accepting DACA Renewals
This morning, the Supreme Court declined to hear the Trump Administration’s request to review the decision of a Federal District Court in California stating the rescission of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) for individuals who already are or were previously protected from deportation through the DACA program. For the time being, immigration officials must continue to review renewal applications for current or prior DACA recipients.
The Supreme Court’s decision serves only to slow the DACA rescission litigation process, forcing the Trump Administration to work the challenges to the DACA rescission through the federal appellate process rather than expedite review directly to the Supreme Court.
If you or someone you know is now or ever has been a DACA recipient, or if you are an employer and have questions regarding the current DACA impasse, feel free to contact me, Raymond G. Lahoud, at rglahoud@nmmlaw.com.
